In its 15th year running, HIFA is a highly acclaimed six-day annual event that showcases and promotes the arts in all their forms.  The festival attracts local, regional and international artists.

Mabuthoe is no stranger to the HIFA Hivos Poetry Café stage where she first performed last year.  This will be the second year in a row for the poet to perform at HIFA and she could not be happier.  The budding wordsmith revealed that she feels honoured that she has been called to perform.

She expressed that returning for this year’s festival goes to show that Harare appreciates her talent.  She added that when she first went to HIFA, she went as a part of the audience to observe proceedings and ended up performing the year after.

Furthermore, Mabuthoe said that she is grateful that more Batswana are opening up and actually going to HIFA as both audience and performers.  She said that the fact that the Blue, Black And White crew will also be performing at such a platform is an achievement for Batswana performers.

The poet added that in artists should just learn to travel beyond borders to benchmark in other countries that host acclaimed festivals in and around the continent.  Last year Mabuthoe performed at HIFA with two other Batswana, Punah Gabasiane and Bokani Dyer.
