Although X-Caliber is traditionally a hip hop gospel ensemble they have, this time around, gone kwaito gospel with aid of Vee’s flair.

“It is kwaito and we like it because it brings back the old version of Vee with his original rough voice,” explained X-Caliber representative, Patrick Kabamba.

He adds that the song blends in the two elements of hip hop and kwaito.  With Vee’s influence, X-Caliber expects it to be a hit.

Vee has gone all out to express his love for Jesus Christ and turned his traditionally kwaito sound into gospel.

His album titled Supernatural simply points to a changed-over Vee.

Kabamba said working with the convert Vee was such an experience.

“There was lots of pressure to do a great song with both Vee and us, but we had lots of fun in the studio.  It was magic.  Vee is Christian and that made us gel even better with him,” said Kabamba.

X-Caliber’s relationship with Black Money Makers started in December last year when the youthful outfit reached out to support Vee.

The group has previously shared the stage with the celebrated musician.

Kabamba said: “We are overly excited to have made the song.  We hope the song will go a long way in encouraging upright moral views.”  He admitted getting Vee in the studio took months, as the artist is a busy man.

Vee’s management also confirmed the collaboration saying that they were equally excited about the song.

The Gaborone-based outfit mixes a variety of genres from kwaito, hip hop, alternative rock adding faith and inspiration to the mix.

The six-member group shared the stage with Grammy Award nominee Lecrae Moore in 2011 and the 116 Clique, Da Truth and The Ambassador and other African artists like Zambia’s Pompi.

X-Caliber was invited to Zambia to open for American rapper Sho Barak.

They also participated in the Afrofest, an annual African urban gospel festival, in Cape Town, South Africa in 2012.

In the last three years X-Caliber has partnered with NGO’s in Botswana to go into schools and encourage youth to stay in school and live a positive lifestyle.

Kabamba said X-Caliber hopes to travel around the continent spreading the message of hope to the youth.
