Letlapeng have won promotion to the Premier League

Forest needed a win to leapfrog Rolling Boys into the promotion play-offs. But they fell agonisingly short as they finished the season with 38 points, the same as Rollings Boys who had a better goal difference. Masitaoka and Mochudi Buffaloes were relegated, while Killer Giants, in ninth place, will keep their fingers crossed that Rolling Boys are successful in the play-offs in order to avoid the chop.

Letlapeng coach, Thaloba ‘Machine’ Nthaga said qualification to the Premier League means a lot to his players.

“Most of them had an ambition of playing in the Premier League and that has been achieved. The desire is always to improve the team and we will do that during the transfer window,” said Nthaga whose credentials are soaring with each passing season. He took Black Peril to the Premier League two seasons back. Nthaga expects to guide the team in the top tier, which has proved unaccommodating for rookies.

Meanwhile, in the be MOBILE Premier League, the title race will go to the wire after Township Rollers missed a golden opportunity to wrap it up on Good Friday.

With closest rivals, Gaborone United and BDF XI only managing draws, Rollers could have been crowned champions had they won against Extension Gunners. Rollers threw away a two-goal lead with seven minutes left to settle for a 2-2 draw in Selebi-Phikwe. Mochudi Centre Chiefs took full advantage as they trimmed Rollers advantage to just two points with one game remaining. BDF XI slipped to third while GU are now fourth. If Rollers fail to get maximum points against Miscellaneous on Saturday and Chiefs win away in Francistown, the Kgatleng side will be crowned champions.

However, a Rollers win will mean Madinda Ndlovu joins an elite list of coaches to have won the title three times. He won it with Chiefs for two consecutive years before moving to Rollers in the off-season. In the lower reaches of the table, Miscellaneous and Uniao Flamengo Santos moved closer to First Division football. Fallen giants, Notwane are still in the relegation mix although they have a healthier goal difference compared to their rivals.
