On Monday this week, BPL chief prosecutor, Tshiamo Rantao charged Mapantsula with one count of misconduct after the violence at the New Lobatse Stadium that left several GU supporters injured.  “The charge relates to violent conduct of Extension Gunners identifiable, alternatively, unidentified supporters contrary to Regulation 24.6 as read with Regulation 12 of the Botswana Football Association Play rules and Regulations and Article 51 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code,” BPL chief executive officer, Bennett Mamelodi said in a statement.

It is said the prosecution intends to call seven witnesses.  Violence broke out at the Lobatse last Saturday after GU scored the first goal through speedy winger, Kgololo Kgogobi in the second half. The game had to be stopped for 15 minutes because of crowd trouble.

The incident forced the BPL to move Gunners home game against Township Rollers on Friday to Selebi-Phikwe since the safety of fans cannot be guaranteed at the New Lobatse Stadium.  A few years ago, a fight between Gunners and Rollers supporters at Molepolole Sports Complex left many with serious injuries.
