Rothschild attackers granted bail

 

The trio, Linos Manyara, Peter Dube and Brian Nkomo are accused of robbing the American couple of electronics worth thousands at their residential home. It is alleged that on March 15, 2014, the accused persons broke into the Rothschild’s home in Extension II and stole Macbook computers worth 17,600, Nikon and Lumix cameras worth P105,300, five cellphones worth P10,600 amongst others.

In their previous mention, the court learnt that most of the goods had been recovered except for the cellphones. The public prosecutor, Mosetsanagape Sello at the Central Police Station had previously pleaded with the court to remand the accused, whom at the time had no legal representation, as investigation into the case were still underway.

On Monday, the accused persons who had legal representation from lawyer, Friday Leburu applied for bail, which was accepted by magistrate Brown-Norman.

Leburu submitted to the court that the accused persons should be granted bail on condition that they will not tamper with police investigations. The American couple are  famous for pledging to build numerous libraries for the Botswana government. The Zimbabwean nationals are facing two counts of acting together to enter into a dwelling house to steal electronic items. On the other count the three are facing a charge of burglary.

Their next mention date is May 17, 2014.
