Yune, the star of movies such as Fast and Furious, Ninja Assassin, A Ma with Iron Fists and Olympus has Fallen, will arrive in Gaborone this morning before he flies to Maun for the launch. Elliot Moshoke, another friend of Boko’s who was photographed with the two during their Namibia safari shooting expedition, confirmed this.

The launch will be held at Magothong Freedom Square on Saturday. The Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD) president and UDC secretary general Gomolemo Motswaledi will, as has been the trend, also grace the occasion. Moremi’s launch is expected to be as big the recent one of his colleague Ndaba Gaolathe of Gaborone Bonnington South. The hype in the tourism town is high, with friends and extended family members from South Africa expected to be among the many Batawana who hold him in high esteem.  Moremi is the paramount chief of Batawana.

His launch was supposed to be held last week but it was postponed because of the Botswana National Front (BNF) leadership forum that was held at Shoshong on Saturday. Tawana had been spending much of his constituency campaigning. Last December, concerned Batawana pleaded with other tribesmen to help their paramount chief retain his parliamentary seat, as they were concerned that he is likely to lose the general elections. This is because previously in 2009, the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP), his former political home had won the constituency with a slim margin. He later defected to the BMD.

The BMD North West regional chairperson Isa Phoi disclosed that they had an overwhelming response to the campaign, with many stepping forward to help Moremi retain the seat.

“Already we have teams that are doing house-to-house campaigns voluntarily. These teams report to us weekly,” he said. Phoi said they are hopeful that they will win the constituency.

The incumbent will battle it out with George Lubinda of the Botswana Congress Party (BCP) and Reaboka Mbulawa of the BDP.
