NAB secretary, Lincoln Goitsemang explained that the delay in the case has been caused by the fact that they have not received the appeal fee from BDF XI. He said that instead of paying the fee to NAB, BDF XI gave the money to the Botswana National Sports Council (BNSC).

“Procedures were not followed. Sports council collected the money and no money was paid to us. We had difficulty processing their appeal because the money never came to us.

I wrote to the sports council asking them to advise BDF XI to follow procedure but up to now, I am yet to hear from them,” Goitsemang told Mmegi Sport.

The military side was docked six points and fined P10,000 for taking a football dispute to court in February.

The club pleaded guilty to the offence. The points deduction toppled the club from its perch at the top of the standings, throwing the title race wide open. Now, BDF XI wants the NAB to reverse the decision and, at least, give them back three points which would see them close the gap on log leaders Township Rollers with three games to go.  NAB chairman, Omphemetse Motumise said BDF XI’s appeal has not been filed with him and referred queries to the secretariat. “I am not aware (of the BDF case), you call the secretariat,” he said.  BDF XI secretary general, Isaac Letsholathebe said he was not aware whether procedure was followed or not. He would not comment on the issue, saying he was busy.

There are three games remaining for the league to end and BDF XI are hoping their case will be  determined before the season ended.
