Conquering Namibia: Police claimed gold in Namibia

Police coach, James Kalebwe said they were sent a special invitation to the games by the Namibians. Other countries that took part in the event are Angola and Mozambique. Kalebwe said the Namibians were aware of his team’s achievement, hence the invite.

The Police women team is a formidable side, which won the league last year and lost to BDF V in the National Championships. Kalebwe said his team played four games and lost only one to take gold in Namibia.

The police team narrowly lost 72-73 against Namibia champions, Unam Sparks of Namibia. It earned ample revenge by beating the University of Namibia team in the final. In Namibia,  shooting guard Kesaolopa Motswagole, diminutive forward Keolebogile Thwabi and Eunice Yane were outstanding for police.  Endie Banyaditse was the best player of the tournament.  Kalebwe said the tournament offered a very good experience for his players.  He said they played against some of the biggest teams from Southern Africa drawn from Angola, Namibia and Zimbabwe.

He said the team would like to dedicate its achievement to KPMF who sponsored their trip to Namibia. “This was a very good start for us as we are preparing for the new season,” said the elated coach. Kalebwe said they are on a rebuilding phase and trying to change their style of play as they prepare for the new campaign.
