The match has been organised as part of preparations by the two sides for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers that start next month.

Botswana Football Association (BFA) chief executive officer, Keith Masters said they met Namibia officials in Johannesburg, South Africa last week and agreed on the friendly.

“We will be playing Namibia in Maun.

We spoke to them at a conference last week in Johannesburg,” Masters told Mmegi Sport.

This week, Butler called 25 home-based players for a three-day camp to prepare for the Namibia.

Foreign-based players will be infused in the squad later for the 2015 AFCON campaign.

Butler said he was happy with the progress in camp and he now awaits a response for a game pitting select sides from the north against south. The proposed date for the match is April 30.

“I put in proposal to Bennett Mamelodi (who is he) and I also spoke to the BFA, hopefully we will have that game,” he said.

The 2015 qualifiers commence with preliminary rounds followed by a group phase with seven groups of four teams each.

The competition will be held in Morocco between January 17 and February 7, 2015 in four cities.

The qualification draw for the 51 countries involved will be held on April 27, 2014 in Cairo, Egypt.

The top 21 teams listed in the CAF rankings will automatically qualify for the group phase.

The preliminary rounds will be held from May to August 2014. The group phase will take place from September 5 to November 19, 2014.

The two top teams in each group will directly qualify for the AFCON 2015, along with the best third placed side.
