Gunners supporters, celebrating their team’s 1-0 win ripped some seats from the famous Pandamantenga stand. “We have been put on notice by the National Stadium management that we risk being denied access to the National Stadium for future matches. We therefore plead for restraint from football fans, in good times and in bad, in respect of the upkeep of the facilities we use,” the BPL said in a statement.

Gunners has hit a purple patch in recent weeks gunning down two title contenders, Mochudi Centre Chiefs and BDF XI. First, Mapuntsula shocked BDF XI 2-1 and then proved it was no flash in the pan when they upset Chiefs 1-0 on Saturday.

Inspired by passionate fans, Gunners responded with a gritty performance to silence Magosi. Chiefs could have gone to the break trailing by more than the one goal scored by Desire Bafana.

It was a game that tested the credentials of under-rated Serbian coach, Dragojlo Stanlovic who has endured a tough time since arriving in Botswana at the beginning of the season. Gunners tactically frustrated Chiefs and the Kgatleng side never got going. Stanlovic’s boys were first to the ball, hurried Chiefs and got physical when required. Winger, Kelelelo Kgosimore proved why Peter Butler called him to the Zebras squad with some clever runs on the flank.  Another title chasing team, Gaborone United are next on Gunners’ menu. The Saturday win gave Gunners 34 points, one behind eighth placed Nico United while Chiefs slipped to fourth. Chiefs have 53 points, four behind leaders Township Rollers who clung to top spot with a 2-0 win over Police XI. Gaborone United’s 1-0 win over TAFIC away in Francistown meant the Reds move to 54 points, three behind Rollers with three matches remaining.

BDF XI moved to second after a 1-0 win over Miscellaneous but remain three points behind Rollers as all top four teams can still win it.

At the bottom TAFIC, Santos, Notwane and Miscellaneous face a tough fight to avoid the drop. However, TAFIC look a safe bet for the drop to the First Division.
