Vee, Socca clinch Domkrag song tender

The duo performed the anthem yesterday as the party launched its manifesto and 57 vans were received for use in the constituencies.

The duo launched the theme song yesterday at Notwane grounds where multitudes of Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) followers, including President Ian Khama had gathered for the launch of the party’s election manifesto.

Details of the tender were not immediately available. Last elections’ year – in 2009, the Domkrag gave the tender to gospel star Tebby Sethamo, who outdid herself as the election campaign album became a hit.

She was allowed to market it and pocket all the profit.

It was not immediately clear yesterday whether Socca and Vee’s Domkrag song will also be available on the market as was the case with Tebby’s album.

While Vee has come a long way as a member of the BDP, Socca is only surfacing now through this project as a member of the ruling party.

Last year leading musicians such as A.T.I and reggae man, D.T announced they were joining Domkrag.

Jazz star Punah Gabasiane, who is also a Domkrag member is famous for complaining about not getting the anthem tender after also losing out to Tebby in the 2009 election victory celebration.

Interestingly Tebby did not perform yesterday.
