Diary Of A Beautiful Woman Part II...

Unlike taxi drivers, we do not come from the same mother so to speak.

Admittedly men/boys are different too. Some are unbelievably romantic and do it the romantic way (candles, flowers, chocolates, movies etc,  while others get straight to the point without wasting anybody’s time. Unromantic as it sounds, I prefer the latter group.

I find the romantic types way too pretentious at times because they often cannot keep up with the charade after a while. You just have to read some of the agony columns to appreciate my point.  People never change, period.

Then there are some guys who hallucinate outright! Like this other one who once promised me the moon though I did not even fall for it. But his story still rates as the most hilarious ever in my books. After several failed attempts, the guy called one winter morning sounding distressed and announced that he had had a near fatal accident the previous week in Johannesburg and that he had broken a few ribs.

I was sympathetic all right, but that was before the whole story came out. In short, the guy made up a tale of how he had bought a brand new luxurious SUV in Johannesburg, then proceeded to wreck it a day later even before crossing the border into Botswana! The things we women see sometimes!.

It hasn’t been all gloom though, for in my journey as a young beautiful woman I have gone on a few dates to worthwhile places, many to even mention. I have even been to several countries among them South Africa, Namibia, Mozambique, Lesotho, Malawi, Europe, an Island and even a boat cruise which made me violently ill. I have been to the best hotels and restaurants too, as well as received numerous gifts.  But even after my adventures, the most exciting journey for me so far has been the social network journey.

It is without a doubt the place where I have developed a few real and lasting friendships, a handful of enemies and networked a lot! My partner will probably be upset with me for saying this, but some day I will reveal how and when we met, which I may add, was through one such forum some three years ago. Admittedly, I spend most of my time on social networks, more especially on Facebook. But that is largely because on the social front I am a reserved person, I mostly enjoy indoors as opposed to going out.

That still being the case, Facebook also happens to be one place where one often gets unwanted attention, at times even irritating and intrusive.

If it’s not a couple of raunchy inboxes, which are best ignored, then it’s some dude just obsessing and literally stalking you. Sometimes it gets worse, some rejected Casanovas often use the network to demean, insult and ridicule ladies.

I have been a victim of this several times, it’s quite a traumatic experience, but one you can easily get over. As a parting shot though, I can safely say that contrary to what most people think, beautiful girls do not always have it easy. Next time a guy stops me though, I will do nothing except to wave my finger at them, the finger with the bling that is.
