“Madam Speaker, yesterday I asked a question about former vice president, now President Ian Khama’s sabbatical leave.  In the evening I got a phone call from Honourable Moyo saying that if I continue asking questions about Khama I will die,” Mmolotsi told Speaker of the National Assembly, Margaret Nasha.

The Speaker immediately advised him to report the matter to the police.  She cautioned that a threat-to-kill is a serious offence that should not be taken lightly.

Vice-President, Ponatshego Kedikilwe also advised Mmolotsi to report the mater to the police since threat to kill is a criminal offence.

The MP for Molepolole South Daniel Kwelagobe agitated to Mmolotsi to state where the threat was made, whether it was in or outside Parliament.

Moyo was not in Parliament to defend himself.

Efforts to get his comment did not bear any fruit at time of going to press.

Furthermore, Mmolotsi had not responded to our inquiry on whether or not he was going to engage the police on the matter.

On Wednesday, Mmolotsi directed a question at the Minister of Presidential Affairs and Public Administration asking him who authorised sabbatical leave for Khama during the time he was still vice president.

He also wanted to know the duration of the sabbatical leave, the number of Kgotla meetings he addressed during the period, and which “vote was used to pay him”.
