Tuku performs on May 3 at Zula Sound Bar, Cape Town and the Botswana man, affectionately known as DJ Oats, is part of a line-up that includes DJ Wilson and DJ Luvchild.

DJ Oats will perform a live set of his collaboration songs with Zimbabwean diva Bernadette Mutangara.

The two did Ngoma Yorira, the title track for DJ Oats’ trending album, and a few other songs in Mutangara’s upcoming album.

DJ Oats considers it an honour to perform alongside the legendary Tuku.

“We are truly humbled and amazed to be going to showcase our talent across borders.  We will raise our country’s flags high and perform with the true legend of African music Oliver Mtukudzi,” he told Showbiz.

He added he looks forward to perform with Mutangara, the female vocalist behind Ngoma Yorira.  Mutangara, who once worked with Oskido, has previously stayed in Botswana.

“We will be performing music we did together from my new album and music we are doing together for her upcoming album.  But my set will strictly be Botswana music,” he said.

The Tuku boost comes just a few weeks after his international releases made waves at various labels in China, the United States of America and South Africa.

China-based United Music Records put out his maiden international release for the year.  They featured his song Kamselele, done with Mel D, alongside remixes by Angola’s Renato Xtrova and Benny T.

In Cape Town, he will have a huge pool of songs to pick from his rich 14-track album, which features 13 vocal songs and one instrumental. The album has songs like You, Stronger and the popular Bukalanga.

Meanwhile, DJ Oats continues with his Ngoma Yorira tour with Lobatse Lizard News being his next stop.

The promotional circuit started off in Thamaga last Saturday where he performed at Urban Nite Club in Thamaga.

“The response we are getting and the love and appreciation for our work has been largely overwhelming.  Ngoma Yorira is getting so much love,” he said.

DJ Oats likened the response Ngoma Yorira got on Saturday to what Bukalanga got when he first introduced it to his fans.

Bukalanga was later dubbed the epitome of a new-fangled genre Tswana House with international DJs hailing it.
