Bright left the country on Friday morning to watch the club beat Roses United 4-1 in a National First Division clash at Athlone Stadium on Friday night. It is said Bright’s main assignment should he take over is to coach the team back to the ABSA Premier League. Santos are currently coached by former SuperSport United striker, David Notoane.

They are presently out of contention for the title as they lie in seventh place with 36 points, 12 behind log leaders Chippa United, with five games before the curtain comes down on the NFD.

Santos chairman, Goolam Allie said it would be premature to say anything on the possibility of Bright rejoining them.

“I cannot say much on that at the moment. Perhaps if you call me at a later stage, we will be able to talk,” Allie said through telephone.

Bright first joined Santos as head coach in 2007 on a two-year deal. Before his departure to Cape Town last week, the former Botswana national team coach said he was open to any good offer.

He confirmed that Santos had approached him to help them. “I am available for the challenge,” Bright said though he had earlier denied that the club was interested in him.

Bright had a successful stint with Santos before joining Bay United (now Polokwane City).

He returned home to coach Gaborone United, but his romance with the club ended last week when he was sacked after a month’s suspension. His suspension came after GU was eliminated from the CAF Confederations Cup by Supersport United of South Africa.

The highlight of his stint with GU since joining in August 2012 was winning the Mascom Top Eight Cup in his first season in charge. GU hired Zimbabwean, Rahman Gumbo as the technical director while Bright was on suspension. George Mogopodi remains interim coach.
