Modipane United spokesperson, Thebeetsile Mokgwa told Mmegi Sport that they decided to take the complaint to the BFA because the First Division South League committee failed to assist them.

Mokgwa said they had written a letter to the First Division committee complaining about one of their matches that was not appearing in the fixtures. He said they were not happy about the decision to abort the match after a Masitaoka player caused a fight.

The game had gone for 86 minutes when it was abandoned last December.

It is said Masitaoka players pleaded with the referee to call off the game because they were losing.

Mokgwa said they were surprised to receive a letter from the committee on Thursday informing them that their match against Masitaoka was to be played on Saturday.

He said they could not play before their complaint was addressed by the committee, hence they decided to take the matter to the DC. He said that they remain hopeful that the DC will attend their matter when it meets this week.

First Division South League committee chairperson, Tariq Babitseng said there was no need for United to take the matter to the DC. He said the matter was administrative and the least the club could have done was to write to the BFA CEO, Keith Masters.

Babitseng said it was not true that his committee has failed to address the matter. He explained that they wrote a letter to United in December to inform them that the matter would be dealt with.

“I wanted to call the two sides for a hearing last week but that did not happen due to other commitments. My intention is to have the meeting soon.

This is an issue that can be finalised and no need to involve the DC,” said Babitseng.

United are in position five in the league with 27 points, while Masitaoka are languishing at the bottom with only 15 points. In the only Debswana First Division South match played over the weekend, Mogoditshane Fighters drew 1-1 with Killer Giants.
