Seakanyeng went home P40, 000 richer, beating his teammate, Otlantshekela Mooketsi and Township Rollers’ striker, Jerome Louis to the prize.

He has been an influential figure for Matebele throughout the tournament and even won the Man of the Match award during the final of the competition.

BDF XI beat Rollers 5-4 on penalties after the two sides were tied at 1-1 score line in normal and extra time. He dedicated his award to his teammates and technical team.

Despite being beaten to the most coveted award by Seakanyeng, Louis did not leave the awards ceremony empty handed. He pocketed P20, 000 for finishing the tournament as the top goal scorer. The Namibian international scored five goals including an equaliser against BDF XI in the final.

His teammate, Mwampule Masule was named the Goalkeeper of the Tournament, beating BDF XI shot stopper, Takudzwa Ndoro and Gaborone United (GU) captain, Noah Maposa. He went home P15, 000 richer. Rollers’ coach, Madinda Ndlovu beat BDF XI tactician, Elijah Chikwanda to the prize of Best coach of the Tournament. He received P15, 000.

Keabetswe Dintwa was named the Referee of the tournament and took home P10, 000. Dintwa was in charge of the pulsating final between Rollers and BDF XI.

 Moletlanyi Keoagile won the Assistant Referee of the Tournament award, pocketing P5, 000 in the process.

In the media category, Isaac Pheko of Guardian and Midweek newspapers scooped the Best Print Journalist award. Oaitse Sejakgomo of Sunday Standard and The Telegraph newspapers was named the Best Photographer of the Tournament.

Nelson Ditibane of Botswana Television (Btv) won the best TV commentary award, while Fundi Gaoforwe of Radio Botswana won the best radio commentary award. Monnakgotla Mojaki of Gabz FM was named the best radio presenter, while Aaron Radira of Btv won the Best TV Presenter award.

Botswana Football Association (BFA) president, Tebogo Sebego hailed both Mascom and Botswana Premier League for staging such an exciting tournament. He said the tournament is unique in that no team has ever won it twice, proving that competition is tough. Sebego also hinted that Mascom who were on their end of contract with BPL could be returning next season as sponsors of the same tournament.  “It is too early to say anything about whether Mascom will return but I am happy to hear that something very positive is cooking. I hear that negotiations are going well,” he said. BPL chairperson, Mokganedi Molefe said government demands that they succeed as a nation and therefore will work hard all the time.  “We must raise the bar every time and that is unavoidable,” he said. He congratulated BDF XI for winning the tournament and urged them to do more and not rest on their laurels.  BDF XI were presented with a P1 million cheque for their achievement.
