Bakgatla royal shenanigans continue

While the meeting had asked the royals to meet and resolve the issue, Sekai insisted in an interview with Mmegi yesterday that he would not call the meeting as it was not him who had issues about his running of the main Kgotla, but the Kgafela brothers (Mmusi and Bakgatle). He insisted all was well at the Kgotla as he was taking care of the Bakgatla tribe as per Kgosi Kgafela’s instructions.

While Sekai was happy to talk and dismiss the Kgafela brothers’ insistence that he steps down, Mmusi Kgafela would not, on the other hand, entertain Mmegi queries.  He said he would not want to exchange words with his uncle, Sekai, in the media, suffice to say all parties have been working on the process of reconciliation.

“A re seka ra tatalala,  mo dipampiring, re mo tseleng ya dikagisano (let us not be all over the newspapers, we are on the road to reconciliation)” he said.

A more relaxed, Sekai said he would not justify his caretaker position, and that he would patiently take care of the matters of the tribe as it had been entrusted to him by the Kgosikgolo. He insisted there was not crisis in the Bakgatla royal house, saying he would be in office until the owner returns from Moruleng in South Africa.

During the recent Kgotla meeting called by Sekai, a resolution was taken that members of the royal house, particularly Kgafela’s uncles go and meet with Dikgosana to unite Sekai and the Kgafela brothers.

Many of the Bakgatla who attended the meeting felt that it was wrong for morafe to be dragged into bogosi disputes and they asked the royal family to resolve their issues and report back to Dikgosana. Only Dikgosana, said the meeting, would then take up the matter with Kgafela in South Africa.

Sekai however, revealed that the royal family meeting had not taken place and that it was not up to him to call it. “As far as  I am concerned I don’t have any problem,” he said.

“Why should I call such a meeting? I don’t have any problem with bogosi. I will take care of this tribe until Kgafela finds me here,” he said.  Sekai said he had warned the Kgafela brothers on several occasions against their attitude and they had spurned his attempts to call a meeting with them.

He said that being Kgafela’s brothers or Linchwe’s sons did not give Mmusi and Bakgatla the right to convene any Kgotla meeting with Dikgosana in the main Kgotla.

Sekai’s above comment seemed to be in reference to the letter sent to the Dikgosana, calling them for a meeting this weekend. The meeting, according to sources will be conducted by the concerned delegation alleged to support the Kgafela brothers.  It is alleged that among them is the former Speaker of Parliament, Ray Molomo.

Sekai however insisted that he was not aware of the weekend meeting.

Mmusi maintained that they were in good relationship with their uncles and that they are waiting to meet as the royal house.
