Engineer charged with threat-to-kill

The state alleges that Titose Thipe threatened to kill Tlhabologo Elias and Tebogo Maphorisa on March 23 at Gerald Estates. He allegedly said “ke tsile go le bolaya (I am going to kill you)”, to Elias and Maphorisa.

In the second charge, Thipe is alleged to have smashed the windows of a house belonging to Elias using an axe at Gerald Estates on March 23.

Prosecutor Carol Mantle told Senior Magistrate Thebeetsile Mulalu that investigations into the matters are almost complete and she did not object to the accused being granted bail.

She applied for a plea to be reserved in the first count. Thipe pleaded not guilty to the second count.

The court rejected an application by the prosecution for the accused to be taken for counselling.

Instead Mulalu instructed the accused not to interfere with police investigations, in particular potential witnesses.

“Stay away from the complainants and you shall attend court whenever you are required. You shall come to court with your attorney on April 28 to set trial dates,” Mulalu said.
