He said only three out of more than 40 members have left the secretariat. He told a BAYGOC press briefing in Gaborone yesterday that the main reason why people leave is job security as the committee is temporary and will be disbanded once the games are over.

He said the three who left were unemployed at the time they got jobs at BAYGOC. The latest to leave was marketing and communications officer, Thato Utlwang who exited on Friday.

The other two are Monty Roberts the resource mobilisation manager and marketing manager, Olebogeng Lejowa.

Serufho said the positions have been filled as some of their partners have seconded their employees to the organisation.

He said the committee has outsourced some services after realising that BAYGOC does not have sufficient resources to employ more staff to organise the games.

Serufho said the outsourcing is in keeping with some of their objectives of enhancing capacity and building relations.

One of the organisations that the committee has partnered with is the Sport Volunteers Movement (SVM), which is responsible for recruitment, training and managing volunteers.

Serufho said they have succeeded in getting the Norwegian Olympic Committee and Sports Federation (NIF) to partner with them in training and educating athletes.

NIF has so far seconded two of its employees to BAYGOC with more expected to join before the games in May.
