The former national team coach said that his relationship with GU was supposed to end yesterday but so far, talk that he will go South Africa is premature.  He said there was nothing ‘just as yet’, signalling that a reunion is possible. The club is said to be keen on rehiring Bright.

“It is still speculation at the moment, I will definitely say when that happens,” he said. The People’s Team is presently in the National First Division and battling for a return to topflight football under David Notoane.

Bright has been on suspension since last month and GU has roped in Zimbabwean Rahman Gumbo to replace him with the title of technical director. The suspension was meant to allow the club to conduct internal investigations into the team’s poor performance and other issues. George Mogopodi was put in charge of first team matters on an interim basis.

After several hearings, Bright and the club’s chairman Fidelis Nkomazana said they expected the process to be completed yesterday.

“It is not yet official (parting with GU) but we should be concluding today (Tuesday),” Bright said. Nkomazana said they were supposed to conclude the issue anytime this week. A club source said the two parties are negotiating severance pay for the coach.
