Four arrested for robbery, rape

He said at the men have been arrested and arraigned on the charges of robbery and rape after the victim identified one of them. Sitale said the four men would appear before court tomorrow.

He explained that on the fateful night, the two victims, a woman aged 24 and her 33-year-old male companion were camping outside the woman’s residential home at Ntshwaneng ward before the men attacked them.

“The incident happened at around 02hrs00 on Sunday. 

The two, were camping in the car outside the woman’s home.

 The four men are said to have appeared and stolen their car and their cellphones, a Nokia and a Samsung cellphone,” said Sitale.

 It is also alleged that the men took off with the car before ditching the beaten up man.

“The men as they took off with the woman in the car and drove off to a secluded place where one of them raped her.

 “Fortunately she was able to identify one of the culprits,” said Sitale.

The men were later arrested and the car and the cellphones were recovered.  The men have been in custody while waiting to appear before court. 

Mochudi police appeal to the public to exercise caution at all times.

In another incident, three people died in a head on collision along the Kanye-Jwaneng road on Sunday. 

According to a traffic officer at Sejelo Police Station, Peter Tsheboeng they have not been able to identify what may have been the cause of the accident.

“The two cars, a Rav 4 and a Mazda Demo, had three and five passengers respectively. 

The two drivers died on the spot whilst another died yesterday at the Princess Marina Hospital,” said Tsheboeng. 

He told Mmegi that although such an incident is a cause for concern, the numbers when compared to last year’s are still stable.
