He told coaches and club officials in the Francistown Regional Football Association (FRAFA) during a meeting at the Institute of Health Sciences (IHS) that he will gladly welcome them in the Zebras training sessions to get tips and share ideas.

“Personally I will be open to all of you in the country. I will gladly welcome any of the local coaches to my training sessions to learn from me, and possibly share a few ideas about the game.

I will also be available to come for coaching workshops to give talks about how we can best improve the game when invited,” Butler said.

He promised to work closely with the coaches and attend coaching workshops in a bid to enhance their skills and keep up with the dynamics of football.

“For the country to excel in football, there has to be continuous personal development of almost all local coaches.

Coaches have to attend more coaching workshops and learn from each other. Football is a very dynamic game and coaches have to keep up pace with the ever-changing aspects of the game,” he said.

Butler stated that he would be more visible in various parts of the country to scout talent during his tenure as coach.

“I will be constantly visiting areas such as Maun and Gantsi to scout for talent. There may be many talented players in such isolated areas who can help the national team,” he explained.

Butler completed his trip in Francistown on Saturday morning by taking part in a preliminary selection process of players who will go to National Stadium in Gaborone for the final selection of the Under-20 national team.
