Kanye-Lobatse thrashes Gaborone in T20

The poorly attended match started on a low note with Gaborone Two batting first. Gaborone players such as Mohammed Ur Rahat and Elvis Chipfumbu displayed some poor batting despite their experience.

Chipfumbu and Akhlaq Raja are the only batsmen who tried to put up a fight for their team as they scored the highest runs. Both batsmen hit 24 runs with Chipfumbu scoring from 17 balls while Raja getting his from 27 balls. Kanye-Lobatse bowlers made it difficult for Gaborone Two batsmen such as hard-hitting James Moses who failed to rescue his team. Gaborone Two closed on 117 runs for eight in 20 overs.

The match came to life when Kanye-Lobatse started batting. Arif Malik grabbed three wickets from four overs with 15 runs while Abdullah Malik got two from four overs and 18 runs. Kanye-Lobatse displayed some tactical game play, which made life difficult for Gaborone Two fielders.

In the first two overs, Gaborone Two bowlers, James Moses and Tahir Patel played tight and limited runs by Kanye-Lobatse. The batsmen unleashed their arsenal in the fourth over when Kallazhy hit five boundaries in a row. Kallazhy and Azhar Sohail continued to give Gaborone Two bowlers a hard time as they hit boundaries.

In the sixth over, Kanye-Lobatse was sitting on 61 runs with no wickets taken, as the Gaborone Two bowlers Mansoor Hussain and Tahir Patel struggled. Gaborone Two fielders were poor and consistently dropped balls.

Kallazhy was eventually bowled out by Patel with 80 runs from 45 balls. In the 11th over, Kanye-Lobatse was riding high with 108 runs. Azhar Sohail guided his team to victory hitting a four run drive boundary to surpass the target in 12.3 overs.

Some spectators claimed that Gaborone Two bowlers were having a hard time because of the windy weather but all rounder James Moses was quick to brush away the claims. “We did not perform well today and it is not because of the weather conditions. If it was, then why is it that the other team did well,” he wondered.

In another match on Saturday, Gaborone Three defeated Gaborone One by 22 runs. Gaborone Three spinner, Mmoloki Mooketsi got three wickets to increase his tally to seven in the tournament. Both matches were umpired by Imran Zaker and Rafi Urafudin.
