Journey Ends For Three My Star Contestants

A few weeks ago, three contestants bid farewell to their friends, family and fans, as they became the first to leave the top 40 count down.  Last Friday was no different as three more contestants were shown the door after they failed to impress both the fans and the judges. Mooketsi and two other contestants had tried their luck in 2012.  He, Prince and Latish from Kasane faced the music after they got the lowest votes failing to impress the judges and were not able to earn a second chance in the process.

Patricia was lucky enough to escape the elimination as her votes from the fans saved her.  From the five contestants who were facing elimination, Patricia managed to get the most votes, giving her a bigger margin over the others. 

Luckily, Molly was able to impress the judges with her striking performance.  She was given a second chance to prove to her fans that she has what it takes to win the grand prize. 

The show is now down to 32 contestants who still have to do much better to please the audience and judges to prolong their stay in the competition.

Even though the judges did not seem too impressed with Friday’s performances.  Some familiar have also returned this year.  Boikanyo, Patricia, Ontefetse and Khumo are some the old faces that will try again for the win. They are also amongst the audience’s favourite competitors. Unlike the previous years, contestants looked presentable. Each competitor styled himself or herself in a way that distinguished them from others.  Up the stage, the competitors looked professional in their stylish attires and unique hairstyles.

The Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture sponsored the show enabling the talent scout to go into the furthest parts of the country to unearth gems.  The youth from rural areas have also brought new life to the competition as they consistently give their all in the competition.  Their energy and enthusiasm had posed a threat to the some of the contestants form the urban areas.  But the challenge sure makes all of them pull up their socks.
