Ten-men boys tame Fighters

Despite being a man down, Boys held on to get maximum points. Nkwe turned from hero to villain 24 minutes before the end of the game when he got his marching orders. Fighters had the upper hand when the game started, but after conceding the goal, they struggled. Boys’ goalkeeper, Mmoloki Sedimo nearly cost his side as he missed the ball but he managed to recover in the nick of time. Gomolemo Ramabjya was unlucky in the 25th minute as Onnetse Ditshito saved his strike. Fighters continued pushing for an equaliser and Abednico Powell took a long range shot that went past the goalmouth in the 35th minute.  Fighters had another chance to score in the second stanza, but Gopolang Matlou effort was dealt with comfortably by Sedimo. Boys threw in

Galebatwe Gontse in the 58th minute for Ramaabya. Powell had another chance to level matters in the 73rd minute but his attempt hit the woodwork.  Mogomotsi Kebaitse nearly made it 2-0 in the 87th minute with a long range shot that missed the target.

Fighters’ coach, Mpho Mabogo said he was impressed by his players’ performance. He said despite the loss, his players stuck to the plan.  “It was unfortunate that we did not utilise the chances that we created. We now have to go back to the drawing board and plan for the next game,” said Mabogo. He said being a man down gives a team motivation and that is why Boys held on to the lead.

Boys coach, Wire Kaelo gave credit to Fighters for a good performance by an experienced side. He admitted that despite their victory, they did not play well and lost possession frequently.  In other matches, Mochudi Buffaloes beat Killer Giants 1-0, while Gantsi Terrors overcame Masitaoka by the same score. Black Peril posted another 1-0 against Black Forest as Letlapeng beat Jwaneng Comets 2-1.
