Before a capacity crowd at Francistown Rugby Club, Ryders played like a seasoned side against Tuskers.

The university side got promoted to the A-Division League this year after spending five seasons in the B-Division. Under the tutelage of Shine Gabatladiwe, Ryders are creating waves and showing that their promotion was thoroughly deserved. The team made its debut in the A-Division on a high note, crushing Mochudi 37-0.

On Saturday, Ryders’ creative winger, Botshelo ‘Habana’ Bogatsu, who scored two tries against Mochudi, was once again outstanding. He got the first try in the seventh minute after a good exchange with winger Odirile Mogatusi. Ryders’ impressive defender and trusted converter, Emmanuel Ntsima was the weakest link in the team on Saturday as he failed with his conversions.

In the 31st minute, Ryders scored their second try through their belly forward Segopotso ‘Hulk’ Dintwe after good work by the slippery Biki Mawela and Ntsima.

Two minutes before halftime, Tuskers missed a try through their second centre Goabaone ‘Jele’ Harry.

The two sides went for the breather with the visitors leading with 15 points out of a possible 21 after missing all its conversions. During the last 40 minutes, Tuskers defended well and kept Ryders at bay but their attack left a lot to be desired. Tuskers scored their only try in last five minutes through their scrum-half, Andre van der Walt.
