Lovers face punishment for fixture failure

“It is true that we have charged Green Lovers FC for their failure to honor a scheduled match between them (Green Lovers) and TASC Confidence.

The game was scheduled to be played in Francistown,” First Division North League chairperson, Eatlametse Olopeng told Mmegi Sport.

The Serowe based outfit has been asked to show cause why they should not be penalised for not honouring the match.  The date for the hearing has not been set. Olopeng said fixtures should be honoured to impress the sponsors and uphold football regulations.

Last season, the First Division North League finished its programme late because of rescheduled games after teams failed to turn up for fixtures.

Olopeng said the intention is to finish the league on schedule and hold the Annual General Meeting (AGM) before the BFA congress.

Efforts to get a comment from Green Lovers were futile as the club’s owner, Onthusitse Kootswele, could be reached at the time of going to press.
