FCC to meet minister over budget shortfall

A task force has been set up to meet with the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development on March 26, said mayor James Kgalajwe. The mayor will be leading the team.

This is not the first time the city council has had to pay a visit to the minister to request for additional funding.

Last year a task force was appointed to go to the relevant ministries to ask for help concerning outstanding projects.

The task force was set following a resolution of the special full council meeting on realising their budget as too small to address outstanding projects such as dilapidated drainage system and damaged roads.

“We have to be in Gaborone on the March 26 for to meet the minister after the resolution that we took as the council to send a task force to the government and ask for help concerning our projects,” said Kgalajwe.

He said that while there they would also see the Ministers of Transport and Communication and  Mineral Energy and Water Resources.

Accompanying Kgalajwe will be the chairman of the audit committee Shadreck Nyeku, councillors Godfrey Kaelo and Professor Lazarus Tlou.
