UDC marches against power

Next week, the Botswana National Front (BNF) and umbrella partners of Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD) and Botswana People’s Party (BPP) will hold demonstrations to demand that the power crisis be addressed with immediate effect.

BNF and Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) spokesperson, Moeti Mohwasa said they would hold a peaceful march on Saturday (March 22) in Gaborone.

The march will then move to Francistown the following weekend (March 29).

“As the BNF we have mandated our president Duma Boko to talk to his counterparts in the UDC so that we hold the march as one unit,” Mohwasa said. The UDC/BNF reaction comes on the heels of the campaign of the Botswana Congress Party (BCP), which has been leading in demanding answers from the BDP and government. This past week the BCP undertook a petition signing process on the power crisis.

On Sunday, the party held demonstrations in Mogoditshane against among others, unfair land distribution, disturbing state of our education and acute shortage of water and power outages.
