The young musician was nominated in three categories, Best R&B Album, Best Newcomer and Best Female Artist.  While she managed to bag an award in the former category, she lost the latter two to Afro-soul prodigy Lizibo and jazz’s charismatic performer Kearoma Rantao respectively.

With such a large frame it is almost impossible not to notice D-Nice, much in the same way it is difficult to ignore her golden voice when she sings.

Since she broke into the music scene in 2012, D-Nice has easily swayed music followers to dance to her melodious expression.  Her vocals fuse with some rugged African drums and smooth notes from the keyboard to produce some soulful R&B tune. Within period that she has been involved in music, the rising star has touched lives, inspired others musically and made the country take note.

“I do music for the people and I try to do something that people can easily relate to.  I am happy that I have received calls from people who got inspired by my songs,” she told Showbiz.

Although winning that award was her biggest achievement musically, D-Nice reckons touching lives through music has been more fulfilling.

“I write songs about love, both its sweet and bitter sides and how it can turn a hopeless situation into a fruitful one if provided. Last year a certain Gaborone Secondary School student who wanted to enter a beauty contest but was afraid of her burn scars contacted me after listening to I Am Beautiful.  She entered and won,” she said.

Another song that has combined both fun and inspiration is Bua Sematla.

“I had observed what happens when partners break up and tried to interprete it in song.  Amazingly the number of people who related to it was high. The good thing is that the song encourages couples to speak out if they are no longer interested,” she said.

Lately her most trending track is Don’t You Walk Away Me in which a woman admits having hurt a man by not taking his calls claiming she was busy and pleads with him not to walk away.

While she is steadily building a profile as the queen of R&B sound locally, D-Nice has also been attracting some lucrative gigs from various cooperate companies.  She has also featured at other musicians’ launches as well and says she has been impressed with the reception.
