Boys dent Letlapengs title challenge

Sidat Sinase scored for Letlapeng in the 40th minute, while Mogomotsi Keabaitse replied for Boys with a glorious curling effort in the 51st minute. The draw means Letlapeng has been dislodged from top spot by Black Forest who hammered Masitaoka 3-1.

The match between Letlapeng and Boys started on high as the two sides went for the jugular. Forward, Omphile Madala, nearly broke Letlapeng’s heart in the 25th minute when he volleyed against the bar. Five minutes later, Letlapeng suffered another scare, but Omphile Sebolai’s cross was dealt with by Mmoloki Sedimo.

In the second half, Boys’ coach, Wire Kaelo pulled out Orapeleng Nkwe and Keabaitse for Galefetoge Kenaope and Keitumetse Baithumi to the chagrin of supporters. The fans were particularly not happy with the substitution of Keabaitse. Sinase was unfortunate in the 80th minute when Oaitse Joseph blocked his shot.  After the match, Kaelo told Monitor Sport that the referees made bad decisions. He stated that his side has gone through a rough patch and the fact that they are fighting for the title is an achievement.

“Taking out Keabaitse was strategic move. I know that the decision did not go down well with most people. The player was slow to attack and we needed someone who can put the game to bed,” explained Kaelo.

Letlapeng tactician, Thaloba Nthaga said they lacked consistency and Boys forced them to play their game though his charges had a chance to win the match. Though his side has been dislodged from top spot, he said pressure is on the teams below them. He said that Letlapeng still have a chance to win the league.
