Rusty Sekotswe beats Zim fighter

This was Sekotswe’s first fight in over a year. In the first round, Nwadziwane had problems in punching because he was shorter than Sekotswe who continued his dominance in the second round. That did not demoralise the Zimbabwean as he kept attacking.   In the third round, Nwadziwane went after a retreating Sekotswe with a flurry of punches. The Botswana fighter managed to bounce back in the fifth and final round.

Sekotswe told Monitor Sport that he was forced to retreat because his opponent was shorter.

He admitted that Nwadziwane will be a good boxer if he trains hard.  “I was rusty coming into the match because I last fought last year. I should now go back and work on my physical fitness. My aim is to get another fight and that is when I can challenge for the International Boxing Federation (IBF) title and the world title,” he said.

After the fight, Nwadziwane said he was happy with his performance.

The 25-year-old said he got the necessary experience in the fight. HÅis record now stands at eight wins and eight losses.

In other fights, Kgomotso Bok knocked-out Letsibogo Lesenyapelo in the less than two minutes of their first round bout. Tebogo Kagiso beat Mmoloki Nogeng, while Onkabetse Mookodi lost to debutant Thapelo Molathe.

Thato Monabana won against Dimpho Ramokoya and Gomotsang Gaosite overcame the tough Modiri Sanyati from Maun.
