Speaking in Parliament on Monday, the Botswana Democratic Party’s recent recruit from the Botswana National Front, Reatile said Mokaila should give the nation an explanation to reasons behind the power cuts or resign, as he was not doing the job. Commenting on the MMEWR committee of supply speech, Reatile said the ministry is now taking the nation through a religious exercise of fasting beåter and electricity.

“We need the ministry to give us a serious explanation of what is going on, I cannot watch the country’s money being lost. If we are still experiencing the same problem which we were told had been resolved recently, that means someone is failing to do their job and why can’t he say I am failing and resign,” said Reatile.

He said that the reason for the continued power and water outages is because the ministry is not properly addressing them.

“Even though the minister is always travelling and attending conferences, he has no results to show. His ministry is not serious, he gave the President wrong information so he needs to come back and report that he gave the wrong information and resign.”

The MP for Lobatse Nehemiah Modubule concurred, saying the blame however should fall on the whole Cabinet.  “Yes we can see his (Mokaila) efforts, he inherited the problem so the whole government should resign because it was done a long time ago before Mokaila,” said Modubule.

The MP for Selebi-Phikwe West, Gilson Saleshando said the state must be punished for what they are doing because they are failing to transform the economy of Botswana fundamentally.

“If you can’t say you have failed what have you done because we need water, electricity and jobs which you are failing to provide so can you tell us what are you doing if you have not failed, you deserve serious punishment.”
