Bond Ngubula of Bond Boxing Promotions told Mmegi Sport that Nwadziwane has arrived in the country for the fight.
He said that there would be other fights on the night for local boxers. Mmoloki Nogeng will face Tebogo Kagiso in welterweight division while Kgomotso Bok will exchange leather with Letsibogo Basenyapelo in flyweight.
Onkabetse Matlodi and Thapelo Molatlhe will compete in the flyweight as Gomotsang Gantisi take on Modiri Sanyati in the same division. Dimpho Ramokonya will face Thato Monabana in the super bantam.
Ngubula said the aim of the event is to promote professional boxing in Botswana because the sport has the potential to assist many young people.
He pointed out that most of the boxers are unemployed and when they participate in the fights promoted by his company, they get paid.
He said the purse is not big because they do not have sponsors. Ngubula said the idea is to organise fights locally as a platform for boxers to market themselves and make more money outside the country.
“The stage that Sekotswe is at today, he can challenge for a world title but that is not happening due to the level of our boxing. In tomorrow’s event, boxers will be fighting four rounds and before the end of the year, they will be competing in six and subsequently we will go to 10 rounds,” said Ngubula.
Sekotswe’s last fight was against Namibian, Immanuel ‘Prince’ Naidjala in March 2013. The bout ended in a draw. Entrance fee for tomorrow’s event is P500 for ringside VIP, P200 VIP and P100 standard.
