The High Court in Lobatse has awarded Master Dee a pauper’s costs for child maintenance following the settlement of his divorce from his wife of over 20 years Virginia Mokotedi. Despite owning a tv show which generates money in entrance fees, advertising, and lately from the Ministry of Youth sport and Culture, Justice Motswagole ordered Master Dee to pay only P400 a month towards the maintenance of his minor child with Mokotedi. The divorce settlement however sees the reality television boss losing his house in Block 7 as well as a Mazda III, to his former wife. He keeps an Audi car and a house in Block 9.

Now in its seventh year, the My Star television show has proved to be a hit over the years with Selebi-Phikwe town council also sponsoring the show to expose talent in Selebi Phikwe, two years ago.

Last year Choppies came on board as a sponsor for undisclosed fee while this year the show got a boost from the Ministry of youth sport and culture, who pumped P450 000 into the show. The My Star’s weekly shows that see patrons paying P30 per head are traditionally filled to the rafters, while contestants part with P200 for auditions.
