Mathabe capitalised on a defensive blunder, sending Rolling Boys’ supporters into wild celebrations. Rolling Boys have now cut the gap between them and Black Forest to two points. Both sides created clear-cut chances the entire match, but poor finishing let them down. Both sides showed each other little respect from the onset. The first real scoring chance came Black Forest’s way in the 15th minute, but Odirile Pitso’s shot went over the crossbar. Omphile Madala on the other side also failed to give Rolling Boys the lead few minutes later shooting wide. Moments later, Forest did not take the threat lying down as they went for a counter attack and Emmanuel Kegosele tested goalkeeper, Mmoloki Sedimo who dealt with the ball comfortably.

The two sides continued their fight in the second stanza with Orapeleng Nkwe attempting to score for Boys in the 46th minute. The striker who joined Boys from Tlokweng United had another chance to score later on, but his header was well dealt with by the goalkeeper. Boys introduced fresh legs of Gomolemo Ramaabya in the midfield in the 50th minute to try and destabilise Forest. Kegosele had a clear-cut chance in the dying minutes of the match, but missed the target by a few inches before Mathabe broke Black Forest’s hearts with strike in the last minute.

Forest coach, Martin Motswiri said in a post match interview that pound for pound, the teams matched. He noted that they were unfortunate on the day and got punished in the last minute. Motswiri said they will not allow the loss to dampen their spirit, but will continue fighting in the remaining five games.  “We are going to work on our mistakes and make sure that we win the next game. My players played well and showed lot of character,” he said.

Boys’ coach, Wire Kaelo said the win meant a lot to his side. He said the game was always going to be tough because they were playing against a top team in the log. Kaelo said he had instructed his charges to take advantage of any mistakes committed by their opponents. Rolling Boys will now take on Letlapeng in the next match.
