Cellphone shop owner aiding gadgets crime?

The case that goes to court today involves a cellphone belonging to an Orange Botswana employee, which was later bought from Smart Cell by an innocent buyer. The buyer was shocked when he was told that he was in possession of stolen goods, after Orange helped its employee track the phone.  It was  during the questioning that the innocent buyer led Orange and the police to Smart Cell phone shop, where he genuinely bought the gadget.

The phone had disappeared from its rightful owner at Mmopane Block 1 during a house-break-in in which several items including the gadget were stolen.

“It is true the suspect has failed to account for the phone. He hasn’t produced any receipt and he will appear in court on Monday (today),” he said. He said the case is still at an early stage therefore he cannot reveal some of the investigations.
