Shooting accused changes plea to not guilty

When he appeared previously, an unrepresented Mazile had pleaded guilty but after legal advice from his newly engaged attorney Musa Solomon, he changed his mind.

But yesterday Mazile Mazile, 56, pleaded not guilty before Principal Magistrate Dumisani Basupi to shooting Patience Sibanda in the head at Monarch location on May 29, 2013.

Inspector Mengistu Chigala told the court that he would serve Solomon with all documents related to the case. Solomon had told the court that it would be important to set another date for mention so that the prosecution could serve him with documents pertaining to the matter. Mazile, who is currently on bail, is due in court again on March 7.

His bail conditions were that he should not interfere with witnesses, report to Monarch Satellite Police Station every Monday between working hours, enter into his own recognisance of P500, produce two sureties of P200 each and attend court when needed.
