The three-day event will start with a fashion party at the Wine Bar, Airport Junction Mall on today evening.Fashion lovers will get a chance to see masterpieces by some of the country’s best designers. One of the designers, Aobakwe Molosiwa, said he would be showcasing his stunning pieces to entice the audience to attend the events of the next two days.

Molosiwa said that today’s party would be a preview of what would be on sale at the VIP Shopping Experience. The main event will take place on March 1 and 2 from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Phase 2.Those who attend the show will have the opportunity to buy locally designed clothes as well as mingle with designers.

“We bring Gaborone’s fashion lovers the VIP Shopping Experience where they may get the opportunity to get up close and personal with the designers and their products in an intimate setting,” said Molosiwa.Participating designers will showcase clothes, bags, shoes and accessories.

Molosiwa explained that the collaboration between designers is meant to promote their products and to encourage Batswana to buy local brands.

He said that the youth are the main fashion consumers, hence the need to stage the event, which will serve as a platform to showcase “our beautiful designs and hopefully motivate them to switch to local brands”.Molosiwa scooped the Emerging Designer’s Award at Colour in the Desert in 2012.

He also won the Best Bridesmaids Designer Award at the Mmegi Bridal Expo the same year. He was featured at the Gaborone Fashion Week 2012 and the Swahili Fashion Week 2012. Last year Molosiwa exhibited at the Independence Day Celebrations Fashion Show and the Global Expo Fashion Show. He was nominated as one of the St. Louis Export top 40 for Under- 40s.
