ECCO to venture into property business

ECCO lost its sponsorship deal with Botswana Meat Commission (BMC) in October last year alongside BMC FC.

Botswana Meat Commission dumped the two clubs arguing that the meat processing entity wants to focus on its core business.

While BMC FC was inherited by Esfandier Ghodratti mid last year, ECCO hoped from one office to another in search for a sponsor but still failed to secure one.

With no prospects of finding a sponsor anytime soon, a cagey Jackson confirmed that ECCO is contemplating venturing into property development.

“We are not yet there, but it is something that is in the pipeline,” said Jackson when contacted for a comment.

Jackson said the plan is to have properties for the club in future. He said the property will be used by the players and other means that would be beneficial for the club’s growth. In addition to accommodating payers, Jackson said the club would be tempted to lease the properties out and generate funds. He said leasing properties out would augment income. “We have to help the club with whatever we have at our disposal,” said Jackson, adding that the club is in the process of acquiring land.

While sources are claiming that the club is venturing into property because they have lost hope in finding a sponsor, Jackson was quick to dismiss the insinuation.

“With or without a sponsor, the club will venture into property development,” said Jackson. Mmegi Sport has also learnt that the club’s chairperson, Mothibedi Lathang announced the development to the team’s supporters during a meeting last Wednesday.
