Suspected Gaborone drug lord granted bail

Magistrate Basetsana Keakantse presided over the case at the Village Magistrate Court.

The court learnt that Ramatshaba was on bail for three other offences related to drugs. In an affidavit from the police, Ramatshaba was arrested at Builder’s World on February 14, 2014 after it was suspected he was there was on a mission to sell drugs to an unknown buyer.

The court also learnt that Ramatshaba was found in possession of white powder suspected to be cocaine. The powder has since been sent to the forensics lab for testing and weighing.

The prosecution opposed Ramatshaba’s bond application saying he had breached his previous bail conditions. But the defence attorney Phodiso Matsau submitted to the court that his client would not interfere with investigations.

After going through submissions of both parties Keakantse ruled that Ramatshaba should be granted bail. The next mention is set for March 10.
