During an interview with Showbiz, SOTS Public Relations Officer, Pontsho Pusoetsile, said the event would start on Friday until March 2, 2014. Even though the event would commence on Friday until Sunday, Pusoetsile said that the main event would be held on Saturday as usual. He said that it would be the same as previous years though there would be a few things to spice it up.

He said that throughout the three days, the festivities would be filled with traditional song, dance and games.  People would also be treated to tasty traditional dishes.  This would give them an opportunity to sample healthy Setswana meals. Pusoetsile said that SOTS is participatory in nature, so all hands have to be on deck.

“This year we are making SOTS bigger. We ensure our fans that we would make the games more fun. We would also separate the area according the audience’s interests. We will have dancers and game leads that would assist the patrons with the games throughout the day,” he added.

He said that this year, attendants would have volunteers to teach the audience how to play and dance to traditional songs. He said that these are the games that old people used to play in the past.  He said that these games would leave old-timers reminiscing over the days of their youth. Saturday evening would be a Setswana themed festival with local groups and both local and South African DJs. He said that all the DJs would specialise in Setswana music.

“Friday we would be hosting a special cultural session from around 9 pm while on Sunday we would be having Setswana Jazz.  Saturday we are doing the normal SOTS.

On Sunday we would still be having local DJs and SA DJs performing. That would give a blend of Botswana Jazz and Afrojazz favourites including the sounds of Mbaqanga.  Adfter lunch on Saturday the programme would be filled with more fun as usual.  There would also be fashion displays by our best-dressed patrons and fun competitions like go thenkeletsa,” Pusoetsile said.

He said that on Saturday evening the day would close with the public’s favourite dual of the North and South Choirs.  Pusoetsile said that SOTS would keep the fires burning at night, so those that wish to have a quiet time by the fireside could enjoy themselves while the festival goes on. He said that they will have a special kiddies corner where there would be dedicated tutors and care takers to  look after little ones.

Tickets are sold at P250 each and they qualify you entry for all the three days’ event.  They are sold at House of Scents in Molapo Crossing.  The event would be hosted at Boetelo Resort along Ramotswa and Notwane road.
