The referees’ assessor, Alicious Sesikwe said they are only waiting for the referee’s report before they take action.

“Yes we will definitely take action. But we will look at the report first. In officiating, you cannot afford to make such mistakes, but because I was not at that particular match I can only with for the report after which we will take necessary action,” Sesikwe said yesterday. Maano was mistakenly red carded on Sunday as the log leaders, Rollers, beat UF Santos 1-0 in a be MOBILE Premiership match. Malete first yellow carded the player, but after consultation with the assistant referee, he dished a red card.

Meanwhile, Mascom Top 8 finalists Township Rollers got a major boost ahead of Saturday’s final against BDF XI when Ditshupo’s red card was rescinded.

The red card would have meant he sits it out in Rollers’ game, but yesterday’s announcement makes him eligible to feature for Popa in the final. The card was reversed after the referee admitted he made a blunder. Rollers’ coach, Madinda Ndlovu was left relieved after the announcement.

“I am excited that the red card has been lifted,” Ndlovu said.

Botswana Premier League (BPL) chief executive officer, Bennett Mamelodi said the decision was reached after considering the contents of the match reports and necessary consultations.

He also confirmed the referee had admitted to having made a mistake in Ditshupo’s sending off. He further explained there was a mix-up that led to the sending off.

Meanwhile, a fierce battle is expected when the two teams lock horns in Saturday’s final. The match will be played at the National Stadium at 8:00 pm.
