Pheto stand as mokoko wa Domkgrag

Pheto is one such Mokoko wa Domkgrag and has officially announced to his group of supporters across the Lentsweletau-Mmopane constituency that he is challenging fellow Domkgrag man, assistant minister Vincent Seretse.

Although the MP, who recently lost his appeal could not be reached on his mobile over the weekend, The Monitor can authoritatively reveal that it was on Valentines Day when MP Pheto met outside parliament with a group of his supporters from his constituency where it was concluded that he will stand as Mokoko wa Domkgrag.

On February 15, Pheto was in Gamodubu village, where losing councillors from Mahetlwe and Kopong also pledged to stand as Mekoko ya Domkgrag, as the concept was introduced openly to the constituents.

Next to be sold the concept were Medie villagers on the Sunday, before the campaign trail hit other parts of the constituency.

Pheto’s Mekoko ya Domkgrag concept comes hardly a week after the ruling party announced  that they would not tolerate independent candidates. It is feared that the decision by Pheto and his losing councillors to stand as Mekoko ya Domkgrag will deeply divide BDP and help the opposition Botswana Congress Party win the constituency. Meanwhile attempts to source a comment from the BDP secretary general Mpho Balopi were unsuccessful.
