Ex-employee sues Home Corp Furnishers

Teisi has taken his former employees to Gaborone High Court demanding P2,777,282 as compensation for unfair dismissal.

On the other hand, Home Corp through its attorneys Daphne Briscoe, Luzibo Benza and Nondumiso Ntuli are opposing Teisi’s claim.

In their grounds of defense, the company claims the Teisi was dismissed on disciplinary ground, following a proper hearing.

“The hearing was presided over by a Regional Credit Manager within the Group Company, who holds a higher position than that of the plaintiff”.

The company alleges that the plaintiff had adequate opportunity to respond to the charges, which he did, but his defense was too weak hence the dismissal was both procedurally and substantially fair.

“During the course of last month you went to the head office and made an appointment to see the Managing Director regarding your unhappiness with your commission structure,” says the charge.

In another charge Teisi is said to have failed to follow company procedures resulting in loss to the company.

Teisi is said to have promised one customer an exchange or a refund for the mattress he bought from the store on February 2011 after the customer complained in February 2013 a year after the guarantee had expired.

Thus Teisi was suspended in June last year before being dismissed after the hearing.
