Rising from the ashes

Fisher recently said in an interview with Showbiz that loosing the two awards she was nominated for last year motivated her to work harder.

She said that she intends to aim for excellence.  Fisher was nominated in the best contemporary gospel album and best female artist categories.

She is now back in the studio working on her fourth album to be titled In His Presence.  This album, she hopes, will enable her to grab honours at the next BOMU awards.

She explained that this time around she chose to do just a worship album as opposed to her previous praise and worship albums.

She added that she feels worship singing is what the Lord called her to do.

“I was born a minister and my fans know that.

Most of my music is worship songs so they have been encouraging me to wholly focus that.  It is where I touch hearts the most,” she said.

Fisher explained that the difference between praise and worship is that worship deals with slow paced songs that bring the presence of God closer to the people.

Praise songs deal more with fast paced songs that extol God either by dance or other loud instruments.

She said that she is aware that a lot of people come to musical shows with mixed feels and it is the artist’s duty to make those people enjoy the show.

More than that it is to make hurting hearts feel better or loved again.

Fisher added that she understands that her role as a gospel singer is to make her fans feel better.

She has to help them look forward to another day, leaving yesterday’s baggage in the past.

“I want to impact life through my music.  I want to heal broken hearts.  I want to make people have hope again.

I want people to repent and start living for God.

I want to be part of that change that makes the world a better place and this is exactly what I am destined to do,” she said.

So far she said she is half way done with the album.  “I have already done songs like You Are Worthy, Lamb Of God, You Are Holy and although the songs are already famous I have added my Setswana flavour to them.  This is to make them a bit more interesting and suitable for my audience,” she said.

She explained that this flavour would make people fall once again in love with her but will mostly remind fans why they loved her in the first place.

She said: “I think it is safe to call my album contemporary gospel as it will have a mixture of different worship songs that will be suited for different age groups.”

When making an album, most artists concern themselves with the prospects of making profit.

However, Fisher is quick to point out that her number one goal is to reach nations and change lives. “I make music that I know will make a difference in someone’s life. I do not sing to get rich,” she said.

Fisher’s musical journey dates back to the ‘90s when she used to sing back up for famous gospel giants like Tshepo Lesole, Matheke, Joel Rebaone Keitumele and Kabelo Eric.

She currently has three albums to her name, which have done very well while catapulting her to fame.
