Rapist ruptures his urinary nerve

Gabanagae made the ruling yesterday after the prosecution informed him that Lebitso was hospitalised at Princess Marina Hospital.

According to Inspector Lovemore of Tsabong Police, who is prosecuting the matter, he learnt from the prisons officials that Lebitso was taken to the hospital on Monday morning after rupturing his urinary nerve supply. Johane immediately made an application to set a new date for sentencing.

Mmegi has since established that indeed Lebitso was hospitalised at PMH and after a few enquiries from the nursing personnel, whose names are known to this publication, Lebitso was said to have being taken to the theatre for operation on his urinary nerve supply. He is already serving 10 years for attempted rape, which he committed in 2003.  Lebitso faces a stiff sentence of up to 30 to 40 years imprisonment plus a contribution of his previous convictions if any. Lebitso is awaiting sentencing of raping two women of Middlepits and Tsabong respectively in 2011, one at her homestead and the other at Tsabong Primary Hospital private ward. He committed the two crimes, while on parole. Meanwhile, Botswana Prisons spokesperson  Senior  Assistant  Commissioner Anthony Mokento has declined to comment on the matter stating that the law does not permit his office to discuss prisoner issues. “We are not permitted to discuss prisoner health issues or matters related to their imprisonment,” Mokento said.
