Vee celebrates Black Money Makers success

Speaking in an interview with Showbiz, Vee said that so far, the company has helped launch most of his albums and those of other artists.

'I founded the Black Money Makers while still a student at St Joseph’s College, but I only got to register it in 2003.

So far, Black Money Makers has seen the release of my albums, Pompa Tswiditswidi, Lamalanga, Ditshipi Tsame, Kasiology, Stimela, Everybady, Zaza, 201 LP and Supernatural Vol. 1,' he said adding that only two albums, Ntja Mme and Kasi Angels were recorded by Eric Ramco Records and Guffy Creations respectively.

Most of these albums are what have made Vee one of the most celebrated local artists.

He asserted that Black Money Makers has recorded other artists such as Olebile ‘Maxy’ Sedumedi, Kearoma Rantao, Eskimos, Mingo and Captain Dira, whom he said managed to produce hit albums under his banner.

The company had a home studio that operated between 2006 and 2007 when the aforementioned artists were recorded.

'We closed the studio in 2007 because then we felt that we did not have the right people to operate it,' he said adding that Black Money Makers has over the years grown as a company.  Vee cited the release of his latest gospel album, Supernatural Vol. 1 as one of Black Money Makers’ greatest success.

'I believe that Supernatural Vol. 1 is my best album so far. The only album that can rival it in terms of sales and popularity is Kasi Angels.  Then again Supernatural has proven to be the superior of the two because it has won three awards so far,” he said.

Being one of the most well known personalities in the country, Vee has been commissioned by government through Black Money Makers to help drive some youth-related projects.

The artist said that so far, the company has conducted countrywide tours with the Ministry of Health to sensitise people about the importance of safe-male circumcision. Also government has mandated Black Money Makers to spearhead behavioural change particularly in youth.

Black Money Makers recently facilitated a workshop attended by other artists.  He said that he felt really proud to be asked to workshop some of the local artists that he has always held in high regard.

Vee said that he hopes his company will grow as a label.

He said that the company is now ready to open another studio. 'We hope to be able to sign new talent in the country,' said Vee, adding that one his greatest passions is to uplift the youth and has been able to do that through Black Money Makers.

Black Money Makers currently employs 10 people and is under the management of Johnson Gotsilemang.  To stay afloat, Black Money Makers has a supplies and tendering arm of the business.
