Expressing Intimacy Valentine Style

The first part of the program that was brief with a bit of poetry and some music. From there on there was more poetry recited and story telling but this time done under an intimate setting of an arch surrounding numerous lit candles. After that was done, those in attendance under the guidance of a Tshedisa official, Moabi Mogorosi were asked to appreciate the paintings. Part of the appreciation came with the audience interpreting what they saw on the paintings before the actual artists could come forth and explain their work.

The last session was a theatre performance that reflected on the sorry state of relationships in general. The evening of artistry was sealed off by a fierce acoustic performance from Samantha Mogwe. In sealing off the show, there was an interaction between the audience and artists.

Mogorosi said that art should be used to reflect society. He further said that what they staged was not a show but an expression of the community they live in. He added that the beauty of art is that it celebrates diversity and he was glad that he performed his poem in Setswana because English is limited and sometimes there are parts that he cannot express in the Queen’s language.
